2000年，美国宇航局向全世界青少年征集太空科学实验项目。当时，我校五年级学生李桃桃提出“蚕在太空吐丝结茧”入选，获得搭载“哥伦比亚”号航天飞机的资格。

　　美国宇航员哈里森于2001年专程来华，在人民大会堂将“中国航天之星”青少年探索计划2000年活动“超新星”学校的牌匾和证书，授予北京景山学校。“蚕在太空中吐丝结茧”实验项目，已于2003年1月16日随“哥伦比亚”号航天飞机升空进行实验。

　　（In 2000,the American Space Flight Center recruited science experiments from the entire world`s youth.Among all of the nearly 900 projects China, the experiment on "Silkworms`Spinning Cocoons in Space" from Li Taotao,a student of Grade Five in Jingshan,won the competition for the "Columbia Space Shuttle"）.
