北京景山学校

亲爱的崔校长：

　　在景山学校校庆35年之际，我代表牛顿公立学校向贵校全体致以最良好的祝愿！景山学校已经成为牛顿城教育界的一个重要部分并丰富了我们的生活。贵校教师和学生参观了我校每个年级的教室，并向我们传授了更我的中国文化。自景山学校返回的牛顿学生在大学继续学习中国的语言和文化；其中许多人第二次或第三次访问中国。他们都是中国的朋友。

　　每年九月在新学期开始时，我都向教职员工讲述中国在当今世界中发挥的重要作用，并将在21世纪中继续如此。我提醒他们说，要鼓励我们的学生就此而尽可能地多学习。我总是荣幸地在这方面展示我的承诺，热情支持交流计划。

　　对于我们已经发展的密切关系，我甚为自豪。我确信我们所进行的乃是中美之间历史最长的持续的中学间交流计划。其独特之处是机会难得，为各方学生安排在对方家庭起居作业。在我们培养并交换将来领导人的进程中，我和您在此重要的国际交流中都承担着同样多的义务。

　　我一直确信我明年能访问北京。我希望是秋天来，在暑期时我将再写信给您详讲。

　　I extend my best wishes on behalf of the Newton Public Schools to the entire Jingshan on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of its founding .The Jingshan School has enriched the lives of all of us .Your teachers and students have visited our classes at veery level and have taught us a great deal about your culture.Newton students who have returned from the Jingshan Schools have continued to study Chinese lauguage and culture at American universities:many of them have returned to China a second or third time .All of them have become friends of China.

　　Each September, at the beginning of the school year , I talk to our faculty about the importance China plays in the world today and will continue to play in the twenty-first century.I remind them that we need to encourage our students to learn as much as possible about it .I am always pleased to demonstrate my commitment to this end by my enthusiastic support of our exchange program.

　　I am very proud of the close relationship we have developed I believe that ours is the oldest,conitnuous secondary school exchange program between Chinan and the United States.It is unque in the rare opportunity it provides the students on both sides to live with host families.I share with you a commitment to this important international program as we educate and exchange our future leaders!

　　I continue to believe that I will be able to visit Beijing next year.I hope it will be in the fall.I will write you more about this over the summer.
